| A major focus of the Manitoba subatomic physics group is centered around probing the Standard Model for new physics, using parity violating electron scattering at Jefferson National Laboratory (JLab). The group of people currently working on our efforts at Jlab include six active faculty, two research associates, and four graduate students. Our current effort is the QPweak experiment ( at JLab), which is being installed and is scheduled to begin production running in the Fall of 2010.
A new future effort in preparation is the 11 GeV Moller experiment ( at JLab), which is to take place after the JLab 12 GeV upgrade.
Previously, the group was working on the now completed G0 experiment ( PRL 1, PRL 2), which investigated the strange quark contributions to the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon.
Contributions of this group to these efforts include significant detector development, spectrometer development, simulations and analysis.
