Program:

- CAP Congress 2004 Program Outline website.
- Special Events
- Jayanne's Informal Version of the Program

Most of the CASCA meeting will be in parallel with the meetings of the other organizations. The topics of the CASCA sessions range from visualization of theories through imaging of astronomical data and data-mining to updates on ALMA and news from space. See our call for abstracts for details about these themes and sessions held jointly with other organizations. Additionally please see our list of invited speakers.

The annual Grad Students Workshop will be held this year on Saturday, June 12, 2004.

During the meeting, the winner of the Plaskett Medal and the Beals Lecture will be announced. We will also hear our from our outgoing President, Gretchen Harris.

In addition, there will be some "joint binary sessions" involving CASCA and a division (or two) of CAP. There will also be other special joint events involving all four of the participating organizations. CASCA members are of course welcome to attend any of the other CAP sessions. Some of the joint binary sessions planned include:

  • Novae and Supernovae organized by the Division of Nuclear Physics

  • Adaptive Optics (used in and outside of astronomy) organized by the Division of Optics and Photonics Physics

  • Specialized Imaging organized by the Division of Instrumentation and Measurement Physics

  • Dark Matter and Dark Energy organized by the Particle Physics Division

See CAP Congress 2004 Program Outline website for the scheduling of sessions. This posted schedule will continue to change until a date close to the meeting.

Presentation Format:

  • Poster Presentations:
Due to the nature of this joint meeting, both oral and poster slots are limited. The final assignment was made by the SOC after the abstract submission deadline. See the subject index for details.

The poster format is 36 inches wide by 48 inches high. (The poster board panel size is 78 inches x 48 inches.)

Poster viewing period in the Convention Centre Exhibition Rooms 2E, 2F and 2G:
    Sunday June 13 at 8 a.m. through Tuesday June 15 5:00 p.m.
Coffees will be served in these rooms. In addition there is a poster session, with beverages, Monday 7-10 p.m. Other nights the poster room closes at 5 p.m.

Please state if you are a graduate student on your poster. See Student Presentation Awards.

  • Oral Contributions:
    - Contributed Oral Presentations are 15 minutes long. 12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions.

    - Invited Oral Presentations are either 30 minutes or 45 minutes long in total. (See your entry in the CAP Programme Schedule.) Please leave 5 minutes for questions.

    AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT

For the scientific sessions at the Delta hotel, all rooms will be equipped with a standard overhead projector and a LCD data projector for computer-based presentations. All CAP, CASCA and BSC members who plan on doing a computer-based presentation should bring their presentation on their own laptop computer, and be sure to visit the Speaker Ready Room beforehand to test that the presentation will run smoothly. (You may also wish to bring your presentation on viewgraphs as a back-up to your computer presentation.) At the session in which you are speaking, if you are using the LCD projector, please have your laptop turned on and ready to go. Since all talks must keep to schedule; any time lost in setting up your computer will reduce the time available for your talk, and none of us want this to happen!

If you need additional projection equipment, it can be rented from the A-V company servicing the meeting by contacting Kevin Wolfe at 204 989-2592 (email: kwolfe@corpav.com). The cost of additional equipment must be covered by the speaker.
