This session's theme is about integrating examples and approaches from different physical disciplines into our courses. CASCA members are invited to contribute a presentation on education in this session. This presentation is in addition to a scientific presentation in the CASCA scientific sessions.

Public Talk -7pm Sunday, June 13, 2004
At the conference hotel, Delta Winnipeg.
The keynote plenary public talk, presented by CAP and CASCA, will be given by astrophysicist, P. James E. Peebles, and is entitled A Cosmic Picture Show: Images from Astronomy. The talk will be followed by a reception open to all in attendance.

Joint (all organizations) Science Session: Scientific Images in the Public Sphere
There will be five invited talks in this session followed by a panel discussion, plus a session of contributed talks on Scientific Imaging and Visualization. The CASCA invited speaker is Carol Christian (STScI). Others are Michael Bronskill, Peter Calamai, Peter Ottensmeyer, and Austin Roorda. See invited speaker's abstracts.

Topics include the impact on the public of astronomy images, astronomy adaptive optics as applied to medical imaging, the ethics of ownership of MRI images, and guidelines for images in journalism. These talks are followed by a panel exploring issues such as the public's actual understanding of scientific images, especially those images that have been made by scientists for communication with their colleagues but which have been appropriated for publicity.
